“Live your truth.” “Follow your heart.” “Love is love.”

In today's culture, we are inundated with these messages.

These slogans sound empowering. So empowering, in fact, that many churches are embracing their “good vibes” as a substitute for genuine Christian belief. But what does the Bible say about these ideas that are now being taught from many pulpits?

Broadly speaking, our culture is focused on personal fulfillment and doing “whatever makes you happy,” but at the same time, it cannot explain why depression and suicide rates are at an all-time high.

Christians should not be surprised that a self-idolatry culture leads to depression.

Nevertheless, it is shocking to see the same ideas seeping into the church under the guise of the deconstruction movement. This philosophy supposedly aims to strip the Faith of outmoded cultural additions but leads from deconstruction to deconversion instead.
