Jon Rendall - Fragmented Reality in the Internet Age
There is no shortage of information on hand for citizens of the 21st century. Smartphones, social media, streaming services and even virtual reality are constantly competing for more and more of our time. As we dive into virtual communities and spaces, our perceptions of reality are altered. As Christians, we need to be aware of how the internet can affect us and how it can reshape our worldview and identity. How does this contribute to false teaching in the Church, and how can we stay faithful to Christ and biblical teaching in the new fractured reality?
About the Speaker
Breakout Speaker / Faith Beyond Beleif
Jon Rendall is an apologist and speaker with a deep passion for teaching from Scripture. Together with his wife Kendra, Jon is raising three little ones, Jason, Caleb, and Hannah. Jon grew up in Three Hills, Alberta, and many of his relatives and ancestors were involved with Prairie Bible Institute. After high school, he studied Youth Ministry at Columbia Bible College, and in 2022, graduated from Trinity Western University Seminary with a Master’s in Christian Studies. Jon and Kendra served at Camp Homewood for two years as NEXT Directors, and Jon led the Youth Ministry at Johnston Heights Evangelical Free Church before returning to Calgary.
Jon is passionate about solid hermeneutics, philosophy, and its impact on culture, as well as narrative as a method for creating, developing, and reinforcing worldviews. For his graduating project, he wrote a short book on developing Christian perspectives on Social Media and Consumer Technology. Jon is excited to participate in the ministry of Faith Beyond Belief, and bring these perspectives and topics into focus under a Christ-centered, biblically focused lens.
When he’s not taking care of kids and working, he listens to a lot of podcasts, reads, tinkers with old electronics, and tries to catch up on sleep :)
